Die Hochschule für bildende
Künste Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg)
is an academic university of art offering an internationally-focussed Fine Arts BA/MA degree course. The interdisciplinary programme of study offered at the HFBK Hamburg is composed of a wide range of academic artistic subjects and workshops. Students work independently and in a self-directed fashion through artistic and academic encounters, project work and experimental working practices.
The HFBK Hamburg is looking to fill the following position from October 2024 on a six-year contract
Artistic Professor (W2) for teaching foundation courses in the department of Design (KN 02/2023)
This is a fixed-term appointment and will not be made permanent.
We are looking to appoint an artist to teach artistic practices to students in their first two interdisciplinary semesters, with a focus on the practice of design as an art form. At the HFBK, design is understood in a broad sense. Our approach acknowledges the form's roots in industrial design and product design, but also incorporates experimental forms of environmental, spatial and process design as well as social design. The successful applicant will be able to present a body of independent artistic work as well as a pronounced experimental openness and the ability to address design as a social, technical and aesthetic practice embedded in a context of urgent political, ecological and social questions. We also require demonstrable interest in collaborative working practices and the readiness to take part in the life of the University.
Please submit applications with the usual documents (CV with specification of teaching experience, copies of university qualification(s), list of exhibitions) and examples of your artistic work together with your contact details (e-mail and telephone number in the letterhead of your application) via our applications portal by 30.09.2023.
